Kinston dance instructor Mary Beth Dawson has been honored by the Wheat Swamp Ruritan Club as the 2005 Outstanding Citizen of the Year.
David Mooring, president of the Wheat Swamp Ruritan Club, made the presentation during the club's annual Ladies Night and Awards Banquet held at King's Restaurant.
The club selected Mrs. Dawson as the recipient of their prestigious award because of her service to the American veterans through Kinston's Annual Salute to Veterans Festival. This year marks the sixth year she has organized and directed the annual Salute to Veterans Variety show held at the Grainger-Hill Performing Arts Center.
